Okay, I should write a ton more than I am about to, but I hope to get back to it soon.  But anyways, the Filk Team recently went on a caching spree. We set the following personal records:

Most caches in a week – 111 (our previous best was 53)

Fastest 100 finds – 6 days (our previous best was 18 days)

A Couple More Updates to the Photo Galleries

Last Friday, Kendra played in her first Volleyball tournament. The Fieldcrest Falcons finished third in their pool of four. However, they won their quarter-final game pretty easily and met the Fred C. Cook Flames in the semis. The powerhouse Fred C. was undefeated entering the semis. The Falcons beat the Flames in three games and Kendra got to play in the Finals! They won the first game, but lost the next two to finish in second place. Kendra got a medal! Pictures in the Photo Gallery.

Phil and the kids packed up after the tournament and headed for Cloyne. We had a great weekend playing in the leaves and geocaching. We cached near Meyer’s Cave and Flinton. As always, pictures are in the Photo Gallery. By the time the weekend was done, we had crossed the 900 mark!

Georgina Pioneer Village

Filed under: Family News — Phil @ 2:44 pm

To help celebrate Birthday Week, Phil’s parents came up for a little while. We decided to go for a drive to check out the Georgina Pioneer Village.

At the Village is a home that was once owned by the family. In the pictures it is called the Mann House. A little later I’ll try to post more information about it.

Pictures are in the Photo Gallery.

Big Birthday at Splashy's

Filed under: Family News — Phil @ 2:15 pm

Wow, I’m kind of late on this one. This year Cindy decided that it would be best if both kids shared a big birthday party. So she booked Splashy’s for some fun in the water and the play area.

Both kids brought lots of friends and everyone had a great time. I was surprised how fast 3 1/2 hours with 20 screaming kids went by. I have begun putting up pictures in the Photo Gallery.

Lego Mania!!!

Filed under: Family News — Cindy @ 9:09 pm

While visiting my Mom and Dad this summer the kids really got into building with the Lego.  Their biggest achievement was to build a free standing tower that reached from the floor to the ceiling.  They had to elicit some grown-up help (Daddy and Grandma) to succeed in their task.  Kendra went on to build a house with all the inner details one can create with the mid-size Lego.  Fun was had by all!

Blue Jays Game

Filed under: News — Phil @ 8:36 pm

Today was an eventful day. My brother Kevin secured some tickets to the Blue Jays game versus the Cleveland Indians today. So the kids and I packed up and headed south for a day of adventure.  What a day it was.

First, we stopped for a geocache along Hwy 400. Kendra found it quickly and we were off again.

Then we hung around the Yorkdale Mall for a while waiting for the rest of the crew to arrive. They would eventually get there and we were joined by Kevin, Brian, my dad, Uncle Doug, Adam and Stuart.

We waited a long time to get tokens for the subway and hopped on the Red Rocket for the trip to Union Station. Kendra and Javen love to sit right up front so that’s where we headed. Just after we got underway, the driver opened up the door and chatted with us. It was really cool to see what they do and how they do it. The kids even got a first-hand look at the instruments and they were even allowed to honk the horn!

Once we got downtown, we were met by Heather and our party was complete. Then we began the search for some street meat. It didn’t take long and soon we were chowing down hot dogs and sausages.  Now on to the game after picking up the giant foam finger which should be required at all sporting events.

Today was a Jr Jays day so the kids got to do some really fun stuff. They got passports stamped and were rewarded with Roy Halladay bobble head. They also got a Blue Jay WebKinz.  Cool stuff.  Oh yeah, and check out the picture I took with the kids standing next to the good Doc Halladay. Finally, after the game, the kids were allowed to go on the field and run the bases! What an opportunity.

We rode the subway back to Yorkdale and headed home. We all had a fantastic time.  Make sure to check out the pictures in the Photo Gallery.  If you have Facebook, you can see some pictures that Heather took in one of her galleries, too.

On May 31 2008 Javen and Kendra went to wonderland for the very first time. They did many rides including vortex. It took me a long time for me to work up the courage to go on it when I was younger. Their favorite ride was DRAGON FIRE.(my favorite to)Kendra really wants to go on the behemoth, Javen wants to go on water rides. We went on timber wolf falls and got soaked. It was a really fun day and they can not wait to go again!

Am I a Traitor?

Last night I did something I feel somewhat guilty over. I feel I may have betrayed the country of my birth.

I was watching the Stanley Cup Finals. So far so good. All good Canadians watch this series.

But I watched it on NBC. Not the traditional CBC. Hockey Night in Canada on the CBC is a Canadian tradition. But I watched the American feed. And even worse, I enjoyed it. I thought there were too many promotions, but I kind of expected that. I liked listening to Mike Emrick and Pierre Maguire.

At least I flipped it back to watch “Coaches’ Corner” during the intermissions.
