2009 Christmas in Bradford

Filed under: Family News — Phil @ 9:34 am

This year we hosted Christmas at our new house in Gilford. It has been a lot of fun having nearly everyone here. We ate a lot (that seems to be a theme). Some new walls got built. Phil’s nephews helped with insulating the house so we don’t have to heat the house as much.

We got to see the Olympic Torch relay and opened a lot of presents. Oh, and the boys played a lot of XBox. We had a great time. Brian even got to wear a pair of giant horns to celebrate his birthday.

As always, find pictures in our Photo Album.

December Trip to Cloyne

I just found some other pictures that I took when Javen and I went to Cloyne for a visit. We did a bit of geocaching and watched Mom & Dad sing in Church. It was also good to see the new Pastor, Thomas Eng and have the Christmas Banquet at the Church.

The highlight was the Christmas Parade in Northbrook.

Pictures are in the Photo Album.

Thanksgiving in Ithaca

Filed under: Family News — Phil @ 8:51 am

As we have mentioned before, we love having both Canadian and American Thanksgiving celebrations. We went down to Ithaca, NY to Cindy’s parents’ house for Thanksgiving with her family.

Of course we did a little geocaching, ate some turkey and had fun with family. The kids built an interesting fort with their cousin Chris.

For pictures, check out the Photo Album.

A Day in our life in Gilford

October 17, 2009 was a good day. I decided to take some time and look around at the surroundings at our new house. I enjoyed some hot cider and the view out our front window to start the day. I picked up Kendra after she had a sleepover at a new friend’s birthday party. We enjoyed our backyard and sunroom. I baked bread in our breadmaker for the first time in a very long time. And we capped the day off with a bike ride to go see the sunset. You can see the pictures in the Photo Album.

This move has been an interesting one. It wasn’t a big move. But the kids do go to a new school. Its wasn’t that far, but I find that I am taking new routes during my commute. We didn’t change much, but we have picked up a permanent visitor. (Adam, my nephew has found work around here and moved in.)

All in all, we’ve really enjoyed the new situation. We play pool. The kids love their new school. I find myself enjoying the simpler things. I can’t wait until the summer when we can swim in our own pool. I’m not looking forward to the extra yard work or pool maintenance.

Phil and Cindy’s New House

Okay, some pictures of our new house are available in the Moving Day gallery, but Cindy went out to take a few more pictures today. Okay, really she just wanted to test out a new camera she just got. See the pictures in the Photo Album.

There is also a video walking tour of our house. I apologize in advance for the bad commentary and camera work. I did it on the spur of the moment using my phone as a video camera.

Oh, and if you have checked out any of the recent albums published, check back in on them again as I have added new pics to all of them.

Thanksgiving Trip

As we celebrated our first Thanksgiving this year (I love having American family so that I get Turkey Day twice every year) we traveled first to Wesley Acres and then on to Cloyne.

It was a beautiful weekend for driving and we had a really good time with family. I know I ate way too much, but can you really turn down raspberry pie? Yeah, I didn’t think so.

We have pictures in the photo album for you to check out.

Our New Home

Okay, I’ll bet you were thinking this post was going to be about the new house we moved into. But no, this one is about a new webhost for thekays.ca The internet service that I currently have at the house won’t allow inbound connections, so that means no webservers. So I moved thekays.ca to a new webhost.

Please be patient as not everything has moved, yet. If you find problems, let me know.

Pictures of our new real house after things get a little more sorted out.

Moving…a reflection

Filed under: News — Cindy @ 4:00 am

September 18th is the BIG day for the Philip and Cindy Kay family.  It’s the day we move from our beloved house of 8+ years  and transport all of our belonging to a new house.

As the day draws near I can’t help but begin experiencing a variety of feelings.  The first being based on the though of…I can’t wait to get there!  I’ve started getting agitated over things about the house and location that never really bothered me before.  I just accepted them because… well…this was home.  For example.  (Read More…)
